Beijing: China has warned countries against entering broader trade deal with the US ‘at the expense of others' interests’ amid Trump administration’s tariff war.

Trump administration slapped 10 per cent tariff on other countries while levying up to 145 per cent on many Chinese products.

The reciprocal tariff led to China responding with duties of 125 per cent on US goods.

In the midst of it the Trump administration claimed that many countries are now negotiating with the US to lower tariffs.

Following it China’s Commerce Ministry on Monday said it would ‘firmly’ oppose other countries entering broader economic deals with the US compromising China’s interests.

A spokesperson for Beijing's commerce ministry stated that ‘Appeasement will not bring peace, and compromise will not be respected’.

Beijing questioned the countries seeking to fulfill their ‘temporary selfish interests’ at the expense of other’s interests, terming it like seeking ‘the skin of a tiger’.

Alongside warning that the above mentioned approach will ‘ultimately fail on both ends and harm others’, the spokesperson said that the China would oppose any party ‘reaching a deal at the expense of China's interests’.

Beijing firmly stated that ‘China will never accept it and will resolutely take reciprocal countermeasures’.

The ministry asserted that China is capable of safeguarding the country’s interests and expressed willingness to strengthen solidarity with all parties.

The standoff between the US and China has triggered global recession fears after China responded to Washington’s tariffs with staggering duties on the US products.

It is reporting citing Bloomberg that Trump administration is likely to pressure countries that seek tariff reduction from the US to forgo trade with China.
