New Delhi: The situation in Sudan has again slipped back into chaos after three-day ceasefire reached by warring parties ended with renewed airstrikes.

The fight resumes amid attempts to evacuate foreign national caught in the crossfire.

At least 459 people have been killed and more than 4,000 wounded since the war began that saw three ceasefire attempts.

Meanwhile, The World Health Organisation expressed concern after one of the warring faction seized an infectious disease laboratory in capital Khartoum.

WHO said there is ‘high risk of biological hazard’, signaling at the likelihood of the faction turning the laboratory into a weapon.

Volker Perthes, United Nations special envoy on Sudan, on Tuesday told the UN Security Council that there was only a partial ceasefire between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The warring generals are yet to seriously negotiate peace as each believe that ‘a military victory over’ the other is possible, according to Perthes.

Raging gunfire and roar of fighter jets were reported in the capital Khartoum through the day, CNN reported.

One bomb hit a civilian home following airstrike in the city of Omdurman which sits across the Nile from Khartoum.

At least 13 people injured when an anti-aircraft hit a private clinic in the city later in the day.

Meanwhile, reports say that clashes were heard spreading to parts of north Khartoum.

Foreign nations are struggling to evacuate their citizens trapped in the nation as Sudan is teetering on the brink of a civil war.
