American man wakes up from accident thinking its 1993, Asks wife to marry him again

Virginia: An American couple, Kristy and Andrew Mackenzie, met with an accident in June 2021 which left the husband unconscious and in need of life-saving surgery. When he woke up, he thought he was in 1993 and decided to ask his wife to marry him.

The duo was on a motorcycle when a car skipped red light and launched them over 50 feet across the street. They were immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital where they were treated for internal bleeding, punctured lungs, and broken bones.

When Andrew woke up three days later, he forgot 29 years of his life. Kristy said he did not even recognise their daughters Loerali and Amanda. Lorelai said her father assumed she was a hospital staff. She added that her father asked where his wife was right after waking up. Andrew told ABC7 that one of the first things he remembers is Kristy sitting on a wheelchair next to his bed and worrying.

After seeing his symptoms, the doctors were not able to confirm when his memory will return. But Kristy convinced them to put them in the same room believing it will help with the memory regain. He started asking questions and within 24 hours, he was a new person.

The couple were discharged after 11 days and underwent extensive rehab. Andrew still has no memory of the accident but said his wife got him through the recovery.

The family took a beach vacation in August and Andrew proposed to Kristy for the second time during the trip. The couple renewed their vows days later. Andrew said: "Luckily, she said yes. We'd already been married 37 years or whatever, and so it worked out."
