Kabul: Protests against Taliban’s order of banning women from pursuing university education continue in Afghanistan, with male students alongside women openly questioning the decision.

The most of notable of protests that grabbed attention the other day came from a Kabul University professor who destroyed his diploma certificates on live TV.

Ripping apart his hard-earned certificates the professor said that he didn’t need diplomas anymore because Afghanistan was no more a place for education.

In a video shared by social activist Shabnam Nasimi he was heard declaring that he would not accept this education when his sisters and his mother could not pursue education.

Taliban came to power for the second time promising more moderate rule respecting rights of women and minorities.

However after initial semblance of moderate approaches, Taliban began to tighten its control over the nation, prescribing rules that are widely seen against the freedom of women.

Most recently they issued an order banning girls from attending middle and high school as well as asking them to wear head-to-toe clothing in public.

Alongside, Taliban authorities banned women from parks and gyms and asked them not to travel without a male relative.
