Tokyo: East and northeast regions of Japan, which includes Fukushima and other prefectures, were hit by an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter scale on Sunday. The event occurred at 12.24 pm local time, Asian News International reported, citing Japan Times.

Fortunately, no damage, injury or casualty has been reported so far. Also, there are no alerts on Tsunami threats.

The quake originated at a depth of around 30 kilometres in the Pacific off the Ibaraki Prefecture. The tremors registered a lower limit of 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale to 7 in the Iwaki city in Fukushima. But in some other parts of Fukushima Prefecture, it recorded 4, while 3 in neighbouring prefectures of Miyagi, Yamagata, Ibaraki, and Niigata.
