Two 81-year-old friends with ambitions of travelling around the world have caught the attention of Instagram users. The Octogenarians Ellie Hamby, a documentary photographer, and Sandy Hazelip, a physician and lecturer from US's Texas, have the mission to explore the world, Hindustan Times reports.

They inform through their blog that they have travelled to 18 countries on seven continents so far. Their trips are not planned by an agent, and they never stay in luxurious stays or food.

They find value in experience over comfort. They write that their greatest joy is mingling with locals. When one travels independently, nothing goes as planned. Therefore they, the friends, share the same travel philosophy. Their blog says.

They have an Instagram page, named "Around the World at 80" with 20,000 followers. They share their travels there.CNN reports that they planned to start their travel in 2022, but the Covid-19 situation delayed it.

According to Hazelip, 81 years is the perfect age to set out for a trip. Getting older makes one wiser in making decisions, and "that's the fun part." She says that at that age, she appreciates so much of the beauty, and she can really "just soak it in", CNN quotes.
