Popular social media platform YouTube has rolled out a new tool, namely the "Super Thanks". The feature enables users to tip their favourite content creators on the platform and is yet another way for creators to earn money. It further enables creators to strengthen their relationships with viewers.

"We have recently been experimenting with an applause feature that allows fans to show support for their favorite YouTube channels," the company said.

"Based on creator feedback, today we're super excited to share that it's expanding to even more viewers and creators -- along with a new name -- Super Thanks," it added.

Fans watching YouTube videos can now purchase Super Thanks, priced between $2-$50 or their local equivalent, to express their gratitude and extend support. They will see an animated GIF and, as an added bonus, get a distinct, colourful comment to highlight their purchase, which creators can respond to. Currently in beta, it is available to both creators and viewers across 68 countries, on both desktop and mobile devices, either Android or iOS.
