New Delhi: Wipro, India's leading IT major, fired 300 employees after they were found working for direct competitors in an act of moonlighting, which is defined as doing more than one job at a time.

Wipro chairman Rishad Premji termed it an "act of integrity violation in its deepest form", according to The Indian Express.

Talking to a conference called by the All India Management Association on Wednesday, he added that employees can have an open dialogue with the company about their second or weekend work.

Premji who earlier called moonlighting a cheating said that the company had no place for such workers and added that he stands by his opinion about moonlighting despite receiving huge amount of hate mail for it.

After Premji called moonlighting a cheating, it became a talking point making him to say that a lot of chattering happening about it but it is cheating plain and simple.

Tech Mahindra's CEO CP Hurnani supported Premji saying that moonlighting is necessary to keep chanding with the times, according to The Indian Express.

Alongside doing more than one job, moonlighting can be defined as working from home.
