Whatsapp to roll out option to export chat backups stored on Google Drive
text_fieldsInstant messaging American freeware application Whatsapp announces the launch of a new feature that will enable users to export chat backups that are stored on Google Drive. All the contents of chat history including messages, images, videos, and media files will be included in the backup.
As Google Drive enables only a small storage space for Whatsapp backups, the new feature will help to store messages offline in other spaces. The backup can also be restored to Google Drive at any time.
Currently, the export chat backup feature is only tested for Android devices. Whatsapp has not revealed whether a similar setting will be enabled for iOS systems as of now.
Along with the export option, the application will soon implement the option to import backups.
WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo is also working on features that help its business users to view the device information of the outgoing messages. This feature will help the business users who log in to one account from multiple devices. iOS users will see the word 'admin' alongside the name of the linked device.
The feature is currently updated on WhatsApp Business for Android beta version 2.22.13.10 and WhatsApp Business for iOS beta version 22.12.0.73.
