New Delhi/Seoul: Samsung has announced plans to extend its Galaxy AI features to more than 400 million devices globally by the end of this year, while also revealing a major recruitment drive that will see 60,000 new employees hired over the next five years.

The company introduced the world’s first AI-powered smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, in 2024, which marked the start of its AI innovation strategy. Since then, Samsung has expanded its mobile AI ecosystem by advancing multimodal intelligence and integrating AI capabilities across wearables, tablets, PCs and other devices.

According to Samsung, user adoption of Galaxy AI has been growing rapidly, with more than 70 per cent of Galaxy S25 users actively engaging with its AI features. The recent launch of the Galaxy Z series has further boosted uptake, bringing enhanced tools through the One UI 8 platform.

Among the most popular features are Photo Assist, which helps users edit photos within the Gallery app, and Audio Eraser, which removes unwanted background sounds from videos. Photo Assist usage has almost doubled among Galaxy S25 users compared to those on the Galaxy S24.

Samsung’s collaboration with Google has also proven popular, with tools such as Gemini Live and Circle to Search integrated into Galaxy devices. More than half of Galaxy S25 owners reportedly use Circle to Search on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, the South Korean conglomerate confirmed it will hire 60,000 employees over the next five years, focusing on semiconductors, biotechnology and artificial intelligence to strengthen its future growth areas.

Nineteen affiliates, including Samsung Electronics Co., Samsung C&T Corp. and Samsung Biologics Co., are currently recruiting, according to Yonhap news agency. The group has maintained an open recruitment program for entry-level positions since 1957 and said it will continue to offer internships to young jobseekers, hiring successful candidates through its formal process.
