Samsung chasing next-generation Exynos 1380 processors
text_fieldsSeoul: Samsung, the South Korean tech manufacturer, is currently testing a next-generation Tensor chipset, Exynos 1380. The said chipset is believed to be the third-generation Google Tensor chipset that will power its Pixel 8 smartphone series, IANS reported.
The development board of the chipset of Samsung has codenamed it 'Ripcurrent,' while the chip itself is codenamed 'Zuma', IANS states, citing GizmoChina report.
It is assumed that the referred-to chipset is a Tensor SoC made by Samsung because the first-generation Tensor SoC had a model number similar to the one used by the referred-to chipset.
The Tensor 2 will be created on a board named "Cloudripper" for developers. Thus, the recent model number could be the third version of the Tensor SoC, media reports suggested.
Meanwhile, it is expected that the speculated Exynos 1380 SoC would replace the Exynos 1280 SoC. Exynos 1280 SoC was introduced in April this year and is reportedly being tested and developed under the product designation S5E8835. The Samsung Galaxy A54 and A53 were powered by Exynos 1280, IANS reports.
