Indian-American Neal Mohan to succeed Susan Wojcicki as CEO of YouTube
text_fieldsNew York:Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, is retiring after nine years at the helm of the social media and online video platform. She will be succeeded in her position by Neal Mohan, an Indian-American who has worked with her for many years.
In a blog post, Wojcicki, 54, stated that she would prioritise “family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about.” In 2014, Wojcicki was appointed CEO of YouTube after serving as senior vice president for ad products at Google.
“Today, after nearly 25 years here, I’ve decided to step back from my role as the head of YouTube,” Wojcicki wrote in an email to YouTube employees.
YouTube’s chief product officer, Neal Mohan, will be the new head of YouTube, she said.
The change of leadership occurs as Netflix, the popular short-form video app TikTok, and YouTube compete for viewer attention.
