Google launches AI Plus in India, expands access to Gemini 3 Pro

New Delhi: US tech giant Google on Wednesday launched Google AI Plus in India, a subscription service designed to provide users with enhanced access to its latest AI models, multimedia tools, and advanced features.
The company said the plan offers expanded access to Gemini 3 Pro through the Gemini app, along with enhanced image and video generation tools, including Nano Banana Pro and Flow, enabling users to boost creativity and productivity.
In addition, Gemini integration extends directly into Google applications such as Gmail and Google Docs, while subscribers also benefit from increased storage and family sharing options. The plan includes access to NotebookLM for deeper research and analysis.
Subscribers receive 200 GB of storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail, and can share benefits with up to five family members. Google positioned the subscription as an affordable solution to access advanced AI capabilities, priced at Rs 399 per month, with a special introductory offer of Rs 199 per month for the first six months for new users.
“It opens up access to powerful AI tools to level up your productivity and creativity — all at an accessible price,” the company said in a statement.
Earlier in November, Google unveiled a safety-first roadmap for India, focusing on protecting children, teenagers, and older adults while using AI. The company introduced on-device real-time anti-scam tools, text watermarking, and digital literacy programmes aimed at making AI safer and more inclusive.
One of the key features, ‘Scam Detection’ powered by Gemini Nano, will be available on Pixel phones. It analyses calls in real time to flag potential scams entirely on-device, without recording audio, generating transcripts, or sharing data with Google.
The Scam Detection feature is off by default, applies only to calls from unknown numbers, emits a beep to alert participants, and can be disabled by the user at any time.
The move is part of Google’s continued efforts to expand AI accessibility in India while prioritising user safety and privacy.
