Representational (IANS).

San Francisco: A United States woman has alleged that she got defrauded of USD40,000 through credit card fraud after she lost her Apple Watch during her visit to Disney World in US's Florida, IANS reported, citing WDW News Today.

The lady dropped her Hermes edition Apple Watch, worth USD1,300, on The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot when the ride was at an elevated position.

"The woman could see her watch, but it was just out of reach while she was stuck on the ride," according to the report.

Though her husband tried to retrieve the watch, asking operators to stop the ride, they instructed him to stay on the ride and promised that the watch would be returned to them at their hotel room.

However, when the woman filed the incident at Disney Guest Relations, she was told that park staff didn't have her watch. Further, she started receiving fraud alerts for her credit card, she claims. She says she had added many credit cards to the lost gadget, including an American Express card with unlimited credit. It was only after the fraud alerts totalled USD40,000 that she could shut down all the cards added to the gadget.

"She was told to research the fraudulent charges so authorities could track where the card was used. Disney Security was also notified," the news report noted.

IANS reports that it seems unlikely that the credit card fraud was caused by the lost Apple Watch. Apple Watch automatically locks for security after it has been removed from a wrist, and a correct PIN would be required to unlock it before a payment can be made.
