Riyadh medical biotechnology summit opens with more than 100 speakers

More than 100 speakers from the medical biotechnology sector have gathered in Riyadh for a three-day summit focused on research, regulation, investment and talent development.
Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, Minister of National Guard and a board member of the Riyadh Biocentral Foundation, inaugurated the fourth Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit on Monday.
The event is being held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister and chairman of the Riyadh Biocentral Foundation’s board of directors.
Running from September 14 to 16, the summit is being held under the theme “Building the Foundations of Excellence in Medical Biotechnology.”
It is organised by the Ministry of National Guard, represented by Health Affairs, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and the King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre.
The Ministry of Investment is participating as a partner, while the Future Investment Initiative Institute is a strategic partner.
Prince Abdullah attended the opening session, which brought together leaders, experts, researchers, innovators and investors from around the world.
The summit is examining national biotechnology strategies and regulatory frameworks, research and development, innovation infrastructure, financing, investment and the development of specialist talent.
It is also presenting recent research, technologies and other developments in medical biotechnology.
Speakers include chief executives, presidents of leading international universities, researchers and industry specialists.
An accompanying exhibition brings together government bodies, universities, healthcare organisations, technology and industrial companies, and investment institutions.
Exhibitors are presenting medical products, services and technologies developed for the sector.
The program includes panel discussions, scientific sessions, specialised workshops and meetings between investors and policymakers.
It also provides a platform for signing agreements and memoranda of understanding, giving research institutions, companies, investors and government bodies opportunities to develop medical biotechnology partnerships.
