Indian billionaire promises 11 lakhs for Indian women hockey team

The Gujarat-based diamond merchant and billionaire Savji Dholakia promise assistance of Rs 11 lakh to the Indian women's hockey team members who want to build a house, reports NDTV.

Dholakia has tweeted that with incredible pride in his heart, he announces that the HK group, his company, decided to honour Indian women hockey team players as a humble effort to boost their morale. Our girls are scripting history with every move at Tokyo 2020, he said in his tweet.

Dholakia, known for giving lavish gifts to his employees, also promised that if the team brings home a medal, his company will award team members who have a house with a brand-new car worth Rs 5 lakh.

Dholakia also tweeted that Dr Kamlesh Dave, his brother's friend from the US, has assured to present the winners with one lakh rupees each. He thanked Indians residing in the US for helping Indian sportspersons. Their help will boost the players to perform well in more tournaments, he said. He urged Indians to come forward and support Indian players so that they would be motivated and bring more glory to the country.

On Tuesday, Indian women had beaten Australia and entered semis but had lost to Argentina in semis in Olympics hockey. Now, they will face Great Britain for the Bronze.
