Mumbai dominated the game from the first minute tothe last with sharp passes and successful defence. Boumous - Lefonde combination proved to be deadly in the match. Adam Le Fondre (20', 48') scored twice and Hernan Santana (58') laid the final nail on the coffin. Hugo Boumous was a key factor in victory with the assists.

SC East Bengal struggled to find the pace in its debut tournament. Even though East Bengal carved out some opportunities in game, the team never reached the mark. The weak defence paved way for an easy victory

Narayan Das and Surchandara Singh proved to be the most vulnerable defenders. Both the defenders was an utter failure in the match and performed below average.

Coach Robby Fowler expressed his concern regarding performance and mentioned the defensive errors in the post-match presentation. Fowler said "Positives [from the game]? Probably wasn't more [than three goals]. We are a new team, who are learning. Lot of our players who can do better. But we are showing glimpses [of good football]. Defensive errors cost us. Players were dragged out of position and made some silly mistakes,"
