Jakarta: India's PV Sindhu has lit the start of the Indonesia Masters 2022 badminton tournament with a win, beating Denmark's Line Christophersen in the first round of women's singles here on Wednesday, Asian News International reported.

The two-time Olympic medalist, who played in court one, beat the Danish player 18-21, 21-15, 21-11 even after the match did not start well for the Hyderabad based shuttler as she lost the first set. But she won the following two sets with great dominance.

Meanwhile, India's Lakshya Sen defeated Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in the men's singles. He was playing in court three and scored 21-10, 21-18, showcasing clear dominance and sealing the match in direct two sets.

But India's Aakarshi Kashyap conceded a loss against USA's Beiwen Zhang and was left out of the tournament. He lost the match by 21-12, and 21-11 as Zhang showed his mettle, clinching the match in straight sets.
