Doha: An Argentinian TV reporter was robbed while she was on the job at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. She was speaking to football fans on the first day of the tournament. Dominique Metzger said she was amid a crowd during a live segment when someone opened the bag she was carrying and stole her wallet. She realised the theft after getting out of the crowd.

However, she was surprised by how the cops responded to her complaint.

She told Mirror UK that she noticed cultural differences when she went to the police station. The reporter was shocked to hear the policewoman ask her "what do you want the justice system to do when we find him (the thief)?" She was further asked: "What justice do you want? What sentence do you want us to give him? Do you want him to be sentenced to five years in prison? Do you want him to be deported?"

The police also assured her that the thief will be found quickly using the high-tech cameras and face detection software. "We have high-tech cameras everywhere and we are going to locate him [the thief] with face detection."

The FIFA World Cup began on Sunday with Ecuador defeating Qatar (2-0).
