CWG 2022: Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh lifts Bronze

Birmingham: Indian Heavyweight weightlifter Lovepreet Singh won bronze in the Men's 109kg category at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 at National Exhibition Centre on Wednesday, IANS reported.

Thus Indian medal tally in CWG 2022 reached 14, with five golds, five silvers and five bronzes.

In the snatch, Singh lifted 163kg and 192kg in the clean and jerk category to make a combined lift of 355kg to win the medal. Meanwhile, Jack Hittila Opeloge of Samoa lifted the combined 358kg to win the silver, and Junior Periclex Ngadja Nyabeyeu of Cameroon lifted 361 to hit gold.

Though the 24-year-old had a clean series of lifts and succeeded in all six attempts, Lovepreet was totally conservative in his approach and worked with the aim of securing a bronze medal.
