Shreyas Iyer named India A captain for unofficial Tests vs Australia

Mumbai: Shreyas Iyer has been appointed captain of the India A team for two unofficial four-day Test matches against Australia in Lucknow. The first match will be held from September 16-19, followed by the second from September 23-26 at Ekana Stadium.

Iyer, who was not selected for India’s Asia Cup squad starting this Tuesday, is currently representing the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy semifinal against Central Zone in Bengaluru.

Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who featured in the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval, has been named Iyer’s deputy.

India A Squad: Shreyas Iyer (c), Abhimanyu Easwaran, N Jagadeesan (wk), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (vc & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Harsh Dubey, Ayush Badoni, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Khaleel Ahmed, Manav Suthar, Yash Thakur.
