The International Cricket Council on Monday announced a record prize pool of Rs 82 crore for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

The total purse has increased by 10 per cent from the previous edition in 2024, rising from about Rs 74 crore to USD 8.76 million.

The tournament will feature 12 teams, up from 10 in the last edition, and will be played across seven venues, with the final set for Lord's Cricket Ground.

The winners will receive USD 2.34 million, while the runners-up will earn USD 1.17 million. Losing semi-finalists will get USD 675,000 each, and teams will receive USD 31,154 for every group-stage win. All participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of USD 247,500.

The tournament will open with hosts England women's cricket team taking on Sri Lanka women's cricket team at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Other teams in the competition include Australia, Bangladesh, India, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, and the West Indies. The 33-match tournament will be played over 24 days.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the expanded format and increased prize money reflect the rapid growth of women’s cricket and the governing body’s commitment to strengthening the global game.

The tournament trophy will tour host cities ahead of the event, beginning in Scotland from May 7 to 10, before concluding in London.
