Indian fans face racist chants at MCG during India-Australia test match
text_fieldsIndian cricket fans faced offensive behavior from a section of the Australian crowd during the 4th Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) last month.
A video of the incident, which recently surfaced on social media, shows local fans chanting "Where's your visa?" at Indian supporters. The clip has sparked outrage online, with many condemning the behavior as blatant racism.
The video, recorded during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, went viral during the ongoing fifth Test in Sydney. The Melbourne game saw Australia defeating India by 184 runs, securing a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The hosts now aim to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time since 2014-15, needing to avoid a loss in Sydney.
While controversy brewed off the pitch, the fifth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground has delivered thrilling cricket. Rishabh Pant showcased his aggressive batting style, smashing the second-fastest half-century by an Indian in Test cricket. His 50 came off just 29 balls, punctuated by audacious sixes, before he was dismissed for 61 runs off 33 deliveries by Pat Cummins.
Scott Boland proved to be a thorn in India’s side, claiming four wickets for 42 runs, leaving the match finely balanced.
At the end of day two, India held a narrow 145-run lead with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar at the crease. Earlier, the visitors bowled out Australia for 181, having managed only 185 in their own first innings.
