Amritsar: Indian youngster Abhishek Sharma answered his critics in breathtaking fashion, smashing a sensational 233 off just 91 balls for Amritsar in the Punjab Inter-District Senior One-Day Tournament after a string of disappointing international performances.
Facing Tarn Taran, the left-hander unleashed an astonishing assault, hammering 25 sixes and 15 fours at a staggering strike rate of 256.04. His explosive knock powered Amritsar to a mammoth 533/8 in 50 overs, with bowlers left helpless as the boundaries came at will.
Abhishek's remarkable innings ended when he was caught by Aniket Singh off Ashish Lawrence. He received solid support from Abhay Choudhary, who made 93 off 85 balls with 10 fours and two sixes, while Abhinav Sharma added a quickfire 51 from 33 deliveries.
The innings marked a dramatic turnaround for the 24-year-old, who had endured a prolonged lean patch in T20 internationals.
