Cricket: Indian youth batter Tilak Varma wrote history after his winning knock of 72 off just 55 deliveries against England in Chennai on Saturday, becoming the first player ever in the world to cross 300 runs in T20Is without getting dismissed. Varma touched the feat after scoring well in the past four innings for India without getting out, NDTV reported.

On Saturday, he slammed four fours and five sixes to meet the score and take India to victory.

Varma’s scores in the past T20I innings were Tilak scored 107 (from 56 balls) vs South Africa, 120 from 47 balls against South Africa, 19, and 72 not out vs England. Earlier, the record was held by New Zealand's Mark Chapman, who scored 271 runs before being dismissed in T20I cricket.

As per the NDTV report, Varma’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, was delighted after he took “responsibility” to drive the team to shore during the Saturday match.

The match reached an equation where India needed 20 from 18 balls, and Varma was hesitant to rotate strikes in the first couple of deliveries then. In the fourth delivery, Tilak rotated the strike and brought Ravi Bishnoi to strike and face Brydon Carse.

Drawing inspiration from Varma, Bishnoi also sends the very next ball to the boundary through midwicket. Bishnoi scored another boundary in the penultimate over, thrashing Liam Livingstone.

Varma himself finished the match in India’s favour with four balls to spare.
