Melbourne: India's Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden advanced to the men's doubles quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Monday after defeating Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Croatia's Nikola Mektic 7-6, 7-6.

The 43-year-old Bopanna and his Australian partner, who are placed second in the draw, were broken early in both sets but showed they were up to the challenge with some outstanding returns against the 14th seeds, PTI reported.

The Indo-Australian pair will now meet the sixth-seeded Argentine duo of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
