West Bengal: Covid has affected almost all the spheres o life. Life has changed drastically since the outbreak of the pandemic. Pandemic has altered people lifestyles. Restrictions in all the spheres of life from social distancing to the restrictions in gathering have been the daily routine for the last two years.

Technology has intervened in our lives and people have been thinking about new methods in gathering. Here is a wonderful story of a marriage from Bengal. Interestingly, Zomato and Google meet are key elements in this marriage.

Sandipan Sarkar and Aditi Das are planning to get married on January 24 - with 450 guests attending. Instead of violating Covid rules, guests will use Google Meet to 'attend' the wedding ceremony. The food will also be delivered through Zomato to all the guests.

Despite plans to get married for the past year, the pandemic became a hindrance, Mr Sarkar explained.

The couple from Burdwan decided to host their wedding using Google Meet to maintain the safety of their guests and in compliance with the 200-person limit set by the state government. During the live telecast of the wedding, guests will be able to enjoy dinner delivered by Zomato at their homes

Following complications with Covid-19, the 28-year-old was hospitalized for four days before coming up with the idea of hosting a digital wedding.

Sarkar told: "I was concerned about the safety of my family and my guests after being hospitalized myself with Covid-19 from Jan. 2 to Jan. 4. I decided to find a way to avoid large gatherings after being hospitalized myself,"

More than 300 guests will watch the live telecast in addition to the 120 physical guests. Those invited will receive a link and passwords a day before the event.

Zomato officials did not hide the company's praise for the move. "I spoke to our seniors, who welcomed it. We have already prepared a team to monitor the wedding's deliveries," he said.

Further, he added that the company is planning to promote this event officially

It appears that the Coronavirus pandemic has forced many to reconsider traditional weddings. One Chennai-based couple is planning a wedding reception in Metaverse as a result of the pandemic. Dinesh S P and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy will let guests choose their avatars to enter their virtual reception.
