The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking to stop the release of the movie 'The Kerala Story', which, written and directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, will hit the theatres on May 5. Nevertheless advocates Kapil Sibal and Nizam Pasha argued that the movie teaser has audio-visual effects capable of producing worst kind of hate, the bench of Justices KM Joseph and Nagarathna dismissed the petition citing that the movie has already received the Central Board of Film Certification. Alongside suggesting ten amendments to the movie, the court advised the petitioners to challenge the Censor Board’s approval. It is now certain the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ meant to defame Kerala will be screened. This will happen despite calls by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan in unison with the voices of political leadership across the political divide and those of the secularists included. Only difference now is the makers of this 'poison bomb' have issued a new trailer, diluting the terrible lie of 32,000 Hindu girls to three young women as having been lured thorough love jihad converting them before being taken to Syria and Yemen. Sudeepto Sen, infamous for making similar movies, probably has embarked on a new experiment after the Sangh Parivar's continuing Goebbelsian propaganda that Kerala is a hub of 'Islamic terrorism' has failed to make any impact in the state. This dross movie, as it is to be dubbed in most Indian languages aside from Hindi, must be of a conspiratorial creation ahead of the 2024 election campaign.

'The Kerala Story' can reasonably be assumed as inspired by 'The Kashmir Files' which was released nationwide on March 11 with the blessings of all Hindutva rulers and leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is no small thing that the roguish movie managed to collect 100 crore rupees in just eight days, thanks to the extensive media propaganda with the support of the government. 'The Kashmir Files' is based on mass exodus of Kashmir pandits following the mysterious communal clashes that took place in the state in the late eighties and early nineties when Hindutva leader Jagmohan was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Later watching the movie, Nadav Lapid, the jury of the 53rd International Film Festival and the famous Israeli film producer, created a sensation all over India with his comments. Calling it a propaganda movie, he openly said that he was shocked and disturbed by 'The Kashmir Files', when it was screened at the film festival. The organizers who brought in a film producer from India’s best friend Israel were embarrassed. The situation worsened to the point where the Israel’s diplomatic office in Delhi had to issue a denial. These stuck-up creations come from the right wing’s realization that they cannot anymore base their poisonous propaganda on truth and facts. What else can be expected from those who have no qualms about removing historical facts from school textbooks and stuffing them instead with myths and legends?

The love jihad, as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and many others pointed out, is a propaganda that has been rejected by the investigating agencies, the court and even the Union Home Ministry. The Chief Minister's statement that the story of forced conversion of 32,000 young women is from a lie factory of the Sangh Parivar is absolutely true. The uniqueness of the fake story is clear from the fact that 32,000 has been reduced to three within seconds. In 2021 Sudeepto Sen told City Media that former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan revealed in the Kerala Assembly that 2800 to 3200 girls were being converted to Islam every year. That's how Sen cooked up the number of young women so lured reaching 32,000 within 10 years! Those who favour the movie claim that no matter whether this account is true or false, the script is based on a true story. If the move is aimed at building Ramarajya on the throne of falsehood by raising as much hatred as possible, we humbly remind them that it is only a matter of time before the fortresses will crumble.
