New Delhi: Just out of detention, Omar Abdulla urged the Centre to release Mehbooba Mufit and others, accentuating on the COVID-19 situation.

In a tweet he called it callous and cruel to go on detaining Mehbooba Mufit and others at a time like this.

As the nation is entering three-week lockdown, he hoped that Prime Minister would release them.

Omar Abdulla was detained in August along with Mehbooba, his father Farooq Abdulla and other politicians.

The arrest and detention followed the abrogation of special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar Abdullah, in another tweet, said he was walking out to a "very different world" from when he was detained.
