Kelakam (Kannur): All India Malayali Association has turned saviours for 18 Malayalis stranded in Hyderabad due to restrictions placed as part of curbing coronavirus spread. The stranded people are now lodged in the hostel of NSKK school.
Jithin and Vaishnav of the group told Madhyamam that they were provided with all facilities including food items required for two weeks. ‘ Madhyamam’ had reported the plight of the group which comprises 13 from Kannur, two from Pathanamthitta and three from Thrissur. They returned from Sevagram, Maharashtra due to Covid 19 fears.
Only after reaching Hyderabad on Saturday did they realise that train services to Kerala were stopped. Though they booked flight tickets, the service was also cancelled. Hence, they took shelter in a lodge near Hyderabad airport.
The lodge owners asked the group to vacate the building while they were deprived of cash and food. Malayali Association came to rescue the group after learning the plight through the news report.
