Rajya Sabha elections postponed over COVID-19 lockdown

New Delhi : Following the COVID-19 outbreak, Election Commission of India postponed Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for March 26. Fresh date of polls and counting will be announced later, EC said.

Polls to 18 seats in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Rajasthan have been put off.

Of the 55 seats to be filled up in the Upper House of Parliament, 37 candidates have already been elected without contest.

The decision on holding the polls in the remaining seats will be taken based on the prevailing situation, reports PTI.
