Chennai: Police have arrested seven people including three women in connection with lynching a 24-year-old Dalit youth on Wednesday for defecating near a village road.
A furious mob rounded up and thrashed R Sathivel, a petrol pump worker hailing from Karai village here, accusing him of defecating at an open place.
Later, somebody called up his sister Theivanai informing her that a mob had tied up Sakthivel, and when she rushed to the spot and tried to stop the people, they reportedly kicked her.
Sakthivel later succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital.
