Pune: The CBI on Wednesday opposed the bail plea of the counsel for right-wing outfit Sanatan Sanstha.

The CBI sought the custody of Advocate Sanjeev Punalekar for quizzing him in relation to documents recovered from him during his arrest.

Mr. Punalekar and Mr. Bhave is alleged to have been involved in the conspiracy to murder Dr. Dabholkar, also destruction of evidence.

However, Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar , defence counsel for Punalekar dubbed CBI’s plea for his custody “ a delaying tactic’.

“Despite having custody of advocate Punalekar for 10 days, the CBI failed to uncover anything to further their probe. It is inconceivable why the agency needs his custody now as they could easily have questioned Mr. Punalekar about the material seized from the electronic gadgets had there been something incriminating in them.” The Hindu quoted Ichalkaranjikar  as saying.
