Panaji: Goa will dedicate future editions of an annual international chess competition which the state has been hosting for two years now, to former Chief Minister the late Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday.

"The international annual chess competition will be held in the name of our late CM Manohar Parrikar, who encouraged both education and sports activities. It will be called the Manohar Parrikar Open Grandmaster tournament," Sawant told the state Legislative Assembly.

Parrikar died while in office in March 2019.
