PM Modi receives UN’s Champions of the Earth Award

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received United Nation’s Champions of the Earth Award for 2018 from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday at a ceremony held in Delhi.

PM Modi thanked the world community for recognizing India’s efforts to save environment. He dedicated the award to numerous Indians and their efforts at achieving climate justice.

Speaking at the ceremony he said “ It is an honour for Indians. Indians are committed to saving the environment. Climate and Calamity are directly related to culture; if climate is not the focus of culture, calamity cannot be prevented. When I say’ Sabka Saath”, I also include nature in it”

Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly won the award for their ‘pioneering work in championing” the International Solar Alliance and “New areas of levels of cooperation on environmental action” said the UN Environment Programme.
