Jama'at to oppose JNU move to start course on 'Islamic Terrorism'
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Jama'at-e-Islami Hind has come out against the proposal of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to start a course in 'Islamic Terrorism'.
The Secretary General of JIH Mohammed Saleem Engineer said that if JNU proceeds with the plan, it will be opposed in legal channels. He added that linking the holy religion of Islam to terrorism is either due to ignorance about Islam or a deliberate attempt by vested interests to malign this religion.
He further said the proposal will only help tarnish the image of a respected institution like JNU and the authorities should be prepared to completely pull out of this. JIH is waiting to hear what replies have been given by JNU to the queries raised by Delhi Minority Commission, and that will also reveal whose hands have worked behind the move. If the university decides to go ahead even after that, it will be contested legally, he said.
