Govt to upgrade infrastructure at 3 airports for Rs 5,082 cr

New Delhi: The government today approved expansion and upgradation of infrastructure at Chennai, Guwahati and Lucknow airports at a total cost of Rs 5,082 crore.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has cleared expansion and upgradation of integrated terminal at Chennai airport which is estimated to cost Rs 2,467 crore.

The expansion and upgradation of integrated terminals at Guwahati and Lucknow airports would cost Rs 1,383 crore and Rs 1,232 crore, respectively, according to an official release.

At Chennai airport, "the total built-up area of the proposed terminal building, including the present proposal measuring 1,97,000 sq m shall be 3,36,000 sq m with an annual capacity to handle 35 mppa (million passengers per annum)," it said
