CBSE Class 10, 12 re-test: Exam dates announced, Gulf school exempted
cancel

CBSE will conduct Class 12 Economics paper on April 25. The Board’s Secretary informed the media on Friday.

He added that they might conduct Class 10 Maths paper for students from Haryana and Delhi only. If they plan so, it be held only in July. However, the dates for the same has not been announced yet.

It was rumoured that the exams will be held just after all tests get over which means, class 10 exams after April 4 and Class 12 Economics paper after April 12.

The Economics paper was held on Tuesday while the Maths paper was conducted on Wednesday. The paper leak rumours did the rounds in social media, much before the two papers were conducted. However, the CBSE had been denying the reports until Wednesday when the Board decided to re-conduct the exams.

The Board stated — CBSE decided today to reconduct the Mathematics paper of class X in view of the information received about the likelihood of the Exam having been compromised. The board also took a view that looking to the circumstances that arose during the conduct of Economics paper of class XII, the Economics paper would also be reconducted.

CBSE has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police. There are two cases – in the first case, the Board received a complaint through fax on March 23, alleging that a tutor at Rajinder Nagar was involved in the paper leak. It also named two schools in Rajinder Nagar. Later, the CBSE approached the Crime Branch with another complaint on March 26 evening.

“Children of various Delhi schools shared question papers on Whatsapp before exams. 11 school children, seven college, five tutors and two private persons have been questioned till now.” Special Commissioner of Police RP Upadhyay also told reporters on March 29 that police is trying to trace the trail of the alleged paper leak. “We have no information that this leakage is pan-India but if such a thing emerges, we will send teams outside Delhi,” Upadhyay told PTI.

The CBSE has also ordered an internal inquiry into the matter in order to secure all further exams.

Indian Families in the Gulf relieved: No Re-test in Gulf Schools

The decision by CBSE not to conduct re-test in CBSE board exams in the schools in the Gulf has come a big relief for the students in particular and families in general living in the Gulf countries.

Had CBSE ordered the re-examinations in Gulf schools too, the travel schedules prepared much in advance by the parents would have gone awry, causing serious damage to their pockets. For airfares are usually very much on the high side during this time of the year, with added loss of cancelled tickets that fetch little or no refund.

Originally such families booked their airtickets for travel soon after the last exam day of 28 March. Closwe to 15,000 students had appeared in the Class XII exam in the Gulf region.

The rationale behing not conducting the re-test in the Gulf schools is that the CBSE enquiry could not find any signs that the leaked question papers had reached there. However, at the time of valuation candidates from the Gulf could be easily identified as a class, since the answer keys for them would be different from the re-test cases.
