Abu Dhabi police have issued a warning about new scam methods circulating online, particularly on social media platforms. Authorities used social media to alert residents about the evolving tactics scammers use to deceive victims.

The latest scams include:

Fake Vehicle Number Sales: Scammers ask for payments to sell non-existent vehicle numbers.

Real Estate Scams: Photos of properties are posted online to lure buyers into paying for fake listings.

Counterfeit Websites: Fraudsters create websites mimicking famous restaurants and shops, offering special deals. Once victims make payments with credit cards, their accounts are drained.

Job seekers are also cautioned about fake hiring ads on social media. Scammers are organizing events that appear legitimate for fake companies, posing as authorized recruitment agencies. They charge applicants fees for these non-existent jobs. Residents are urged to avoid these fake job ads to prevent falling victim.

Residents are reminded not to share confidential information, such as bank account details, online banking passwords, ATM PINs and CVV numbers. Authorities emphasize that bank staff will never request this information.

Abu Dhabi police advise the public to report any calls from anonymous individuals asking to update bank details. Reports can be made at the nearest police station or by contacting the security service number 8002626. Residents can also send text messages to 2828 or email reports to [email protected].
