UAE air defence units intercepted a number of aerial threats on 12 March, hitting 10 ballistic missiles and 26 unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran, authorities said.

The latest interceptions add to a broader pattern of attacks since the escalation began. According to officials, air defence systems have so far destroyed 278 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,540 drones targeting the country.

Officials confirmed that six people have been killed in the attacks. The victims include nationals of the UAE, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. A further 131 people sustained injuries described as minor to moderate.

Those injured come from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana and Indonesia.

The Ministry of Defence said the armed forces remain on full alert and capable of responding to further threats. It stated that any attempt to compromise the country’s security would be met with firm action to protect national sovereignty and safeguard strategic interests.

No additional details were released about specific targets or locations affected in the latest incident.
