Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for employees across the Emirates. The holidays, set to mark the end of Ramadan, will provide a well-deserved break for both private and public sector workers.

For employees in the private sector, the Eid Al Fitr holidays will commence on Monday, 29 Ramadan, which falls on April 8, 2024. These holidays will extend until 3 Shawwal, providing a paid break for all workers. The duration of the holiday period is contingent on the sighting of the moon, determining the first day of Eid.

If Eid falls on Tuesday, offices will remain closed till Thursday, April 11. But if Eid is on Wednesday, the holiday for private sector employees will last until Friday, April 12. This flexibility allows businesses to plan accordingly and ensures that employees can fully embrace the festive spirit of Eid Al Fitr.

Aligning with the celebrations, the UAE Cabinet has confirmed a week-long public sector holiday. Government employees will enjoy paid leave starting from Monday, April 8, until Sunday, April 14. Normal operations will resume on Monday, April 15, marking the end of the extended break.

These holidays hold significant implications for businesses and individuals alike. With offices closed across sectors, there will likely be a surge in travel activities as families reunite to celebrate Eid Al Fitr. Additionally, businesses may experience a slowdown during this period, necessitating careful planning to mitigate any potential disruptions.

The announcement of the Eid Al Fitr holidays by MoHRE signifies the importance of cultural celebrations in the UAE.
