UAE Armed Forces sign AED 17.913 billion worth of deals in 3 days

International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2021 at UAE

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Armed Forces have signed 12 new deals worth AED 5.589 billion with local and international companies in the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2021, bringing the total number of deals witnessed at the exhibitions to AED 17.913 billion in just 3 days.

The deals were announced during a press conference held on Tuesday, state-run news agency WAM reported.

The official spokesperson of the IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions, Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani said that the total foreign transactions amounted to AED 1.164billion, 21 per cent of the total deal value of transactions,while local transactions amounted to AED 4.425 billion by 79 percent.

He added that the deals were distributed to 6 foreign companies and 6 local companies.

Naval Staff Colonel Fahed Nasser Al Thehli, official spokesperson for NAVDEX, stated that the most important local deals were made with Yas Holding LCCto buy Korean CHUNMOO launchers and missiles for ground forces worth Dhs2.955bn. Another deal was signed with Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company for the services of the comprehensive technical management of naval vessels and shipsworth Dhs650m. Further deals include signing with Vallo Equipment Spare Parts Tradingand Unilux Heavy Equipment Spare Parts with AED 60 million and AED 30 million respectively.

"Further, contracts have been agreed with Abu Dhabi Aviation Company, providing the operation and management of search and rescue aircraft for the Joint Aviation Command for Dhs173,500,000. Deals have also been concluded with Etimad Strategic Security Solutions LCC, providing technical support for security systems, at a value of Dhs556,271,790," said Colonel Al Thehli.

Lieutenant-Colonel Staff Maya Rashid Almazrouei stated that the international contracts included deals with HARRIS INTERNATIONAL INC worth AED 651.5 million, ELETTRONICA for a value of AED 289.39 million and with THE BOEING COMPANYworth AED 112.96 million.

"We have hired THALES LAS FRANCE SAS, purchasing spare parts for radar systems for the Air Defence Command, at a total value of AED 66,432,037.Contracts have also been implemented for Rheinmetall Man Military Vehicle, providing maintenance and technical consultation at a value of AED 40,700,000. Additional agreements have been put in place with STATE COMPANY UKROBORNSERVICE, providing training in the realm of cyberspace, for AED 2,938,400," added Lieutenant-Colonel Staff Almazrouei.
