Dubai: UAE authorities have mobilized swiftly to address the various challenges presented during the unprecedented rainstorm that swept through the country on April 16. Power and water outages in localized areas prompted immediate action, with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) issuing a joint statement to reassure the public of their efforts.

Teams of specialists were dispatched to inspect and rectify leaks in underground water tanks, ensuring that the water was safe for consumption through rigorous testing and disinfection procedures. Mohap, meanwhile, attended to individuals showing symptoms of being affected by mixed water, providing necessary treatment and ensuring their well-being before discharging them from hospitals.

Guidelines were promptly rolled out to safeguard public health and safety, urging residents to steer clear of stagnant water that could harbour contaminants and serve as breeding grounds for insects. The collaborative efforts of emergency response teams and relevant authorities were commended for their rapid and effective handling of the situation.

Emphasizing the importance of obtaining information from official sources, authorities cautioned against the spread of rumours, highlighting the potential legal repercussions. Collaboration with local entities such as the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) and health departments has been instrumental in managing the aftermath of the rainstorm.

Despite the challenges posed by this natural crisis, UAE authorities have demonstrated resilience and determination in ensuring the safety and well-being of their citizens. Continued vigilance and adherence to official guidelines remain paramount as the country navigates through the aftermath of the storm.
