Dubai: Sheikha Salama Al Maktoum was awarded the 'Shield of Happiness' for her significant contributions to Dubai Police's K9 Security Inspection Department.

The 'Shield of Happiness' from Dubai Police acknowledges Sheikha Salama's endeavors in enhancing the K9 Security Inspection Department's operations, notably by obtaining rare police dog breeds and offering comprehensive training

The shield presentation took place during the inauguration of the K9 Conference, as part of the third edition of the World Police Summit 2024. The event was graced by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, along with officers and experts.

Her support enabled the department to acquire specialized police dog breeds, enhancing operational efficiency. Over 1900 hours of advanced joint training for handlers and dogs, in collaboration with Sahara Kennel, has significantly enhanced Dubai Police's capabilities.

Major Salah Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Director of the K9 Security Inspection Department, emphasized the conference's history of promoting security inspection advancements. This year, the focus was on challenges faced in search and rescue operations during natural and humanitarian disasters.

The conference discussed constant preparedness to ensure skilled personnel and trained police dogs, equipped to handle emergencies.

International experts shared insights on search and rescue practices, K9 technologies and advancements in police dog deployment. Topics ranged from gastrointestinal disorders in German Shepherds to explosive detection training and stress management for K9s.

Under the directives of Lieutenant General Al Marri, Dubai Police remains dedicated to advancing the innovative use of police dogs. They aim to enhance security, prevent crime and ensure community safety through continuous training and adoption of advanced technologies.

The conference explored innovative approaches to address modern security challenges. It discussed advancements in detection methods, nutritional needs for working dogs and improved care practices for police canines.

The K9 Conference showcased Dubai Police's extended vision of staying at the forefront of security innovation.
