Sharjah: Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, attended the ceremony marking the second harvesting season of the wheat farm in Mleiha. His Highness inaugurated the farm's administrative building, highlighting the Sharjah government's commitment to agricultural development.

Sheikh Sultan embarked on a tour of the accompanying events area before the ceremony commenced and observed samples of Sharjah's soil and grains. He also witnessed the milling process using modern equipment. He then rang the bell to signal the start of the wheat harvesting process, observing the use of modern machinery in the operation.

Following the harvesting, Sheikh Sultan proceeded to unveil the commemorative plaque at the farm's administrative building, officially marking its opening. He also explored the facilities, including the Biotechnology Laboratory, where he received a detailed explanation of its groundbreaking work in wheat genetic analysis.

The Ruler of Sharjah also visited the experimental farm, gaining insights into the research efforts aimed at developing wheat varieties suitable for the local environment. Sheikh Sultan attended a documentary screening depicting the farm's evolution, highlighting its expansion to cover a total cultivated area of 1,428 hectares.

His Highness honoured government entities, companies and sponsors during the ceremony's conclusion, whose support significantly contributed to the farm's success. He emphasized the importance of agricultural projects in enhancing food security and adapting to climate change, aligning with his vision to increase self-sufficiency in Sharjah and the UAE.

Sheikh Khaled Bin Essam Al Qasimi, Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation- Sharjah, and Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment and other senior officials accompanied Sheikh Sultan.
