Sharjah has introduced new transport services to make it easier for visitors to reach the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), taking place from November 5 to 16 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) announced additional bus and boat routes, increased service frequencies and free onward connections across Sharjah, Dubai and Ajman. The measures aim to support travel to one of the region’s largest cultural events.

Visitors from Dubai can reach Sharjah by sea via the FR5 marine route, which links Al Ghubaiba Marine Station to Sharjah Aquarium Marine Station. From there, free traditional boats will shuttle passengers between Sharjah Aquarium, Al Qasba and the Expo Centre during the fair’s opening hours.

Two shuttle bus routes will also operate daily from Dubai’s Al Rashidiya Bus Station and City Centre Ajman, departing for the Expo Centre at 9am, 1pm and 5pm. Return trips are scheduled at 12pm, 4pm and 9pm.

Marine transport from Sharjah Aquarium to Al Ghubaiba will run Monday to Thursday at 7am, 8.30am, 1pm, 4.45pm and 6.15pm; Fridays at 7am, 8.30am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm; and weekends at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 9pm.

Trips from Al Ghubaiba to Sharjah will operate weekdays at 7.45am, 12pm, 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm; Fridays at 7.45am, 10am, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm; and weekends at 3pm, 5pm, 8pm and 10pm.

The SBA said the expanded network is designed to encourage more visitors to use public transport and ease congestion around the Expo Centre during the fair.
