Indian expat dies in Ras Al Khaimah as UAE hit by heavy rain
text_fieldsRas Al Khaimah: A 27-year-old Indian expat died in the early hours of Thursday as heavy rain swept through Ras Al Khaimah. The deceased, identified as Salman Fariz from Malappuram district in Kerala, was working as a delivery boy at a cafeteria in the Nakheel area.
According to local news reports, Salman had taken shelter either inside or near a building under construction when a wall collapsed on him around 3am. The incident occurred as the emirate experienced intense rainfall tied to unstable weather conditions affecting the country.
A low-pressure system over the Middle East has caused heavy rain across several parts of the UAE, with forecasts indicating continued instability through Friday. Homes and businesses in multiple areas have reported flooding.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has urged private-sector companies in the most affected zones to implement remote work arrangements on Friday. Authorities have also closed beaches and parks, while a number of public events have been cancelled due to safety concerns.
