India and the United Arab Emirates held a meeting of the Joint Committee under their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement this week to review progress and address pending trade issues, according to the commerce ministry.

Officials discussed market access, data sharing, the allocation of gold import quotas under the tariff rate quota system, anti-dumping matters, services, Rules of Origin, and Bureau of Indian Standards licensing. India informed the UAE about its shift to a transparent, competitive bidding process for distributing Gold TRQ.

Both sides also examined ways to strengthen regulatory cooperation in pharmaceuticals and resolve delays linked to Certificates of Origin. They noted the need to finalise a memorandum of understanding on food safety and technical requirements between India’s APEDA and the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

The ministry said bilateral trade crossed 100 billion dollars in 2024–25, a year-on-year increase of 19.6 percent. India and the UAE have set a goal to lift non-oil, non-precious metal trade to 100 billion dollars by 2030.
