All set for Gulf Madhyamam Freedom Quiz Grand Finale on Friday

Riyadh: This Friday will see the grand finale of the 'India @ 75 Freedom Quiz' for students in Saudi Arabia in Dammam, organized by Gulf Madhyamam as part of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of Indian independence and the India-Saudi relationship. Six students each from the Senior and Junior categories will take part in the final round competition, which will feature the best-adjudged talent picked from the two categories. The contestants of the grand finale got qualified by winning the online semi-finals contest held on the 1st of this month.

All COVID protocols will be strictly followed for the event in which the quiz 'master' for the ceremony is Giri "PickBrain" Balasubramaniam who is a celebrated anchor, quiz master and a seven-time Limca World Record holder. Five students from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia will contest at the venue in Dammam with the programme anchor, while four students will appear at the venue in Riyadh and three students at the venue in the Western Province under the supervision of the organizers. The event will kick off at 4 PM.

The programme will be broadcast live for the public from 4 p.m. on the Gulf Madhyamam Saudi official Facebook page. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition: the first prize is a gift worth 4,000 Saudi Riyals, the second prize worth 2,500 Riyals, and the third prize worth 2000 Riyals.

The finalists are as follows:

Junior category: Kush Ram Mahalaxme (International Indian School, Dammam), Mohd Izaan Khan (Al Muna International School, Dammam), Naira Shahdan (International Indian Public School, Riyadh), D Gautham Krishna (Al Manar, International School, Yanbu), Ateeb Israr (Modern International School, Al-Hasa, Sanyogita Abhay Mude (International Indian School, Riyadh).

Senior division: Mohammed Mishal (International Indian School, Riyadh), Asna Shafi (International Indian School, Dammam), Abdus Sami Shaikh (International Indian School, Jeddah), Arafat Mohammad Asif (International Indian School, Jeddah), Dhruv Jain (International Indian School, Dammam), Iniyan Shivakumar (New Middle East International School, Riyadh).

The first round of the contest saw 10,000 students competing. From this, 150 students were selected for the semi-final of each category. Eventually, 12 students in all who qualified for the semi-final are set to display their prowess on stage at the Grand Finale. The programme is being held under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the main sponsor of the event is Lulu Group.
