Housemaid excursion event organized by Prachara UAE Chavakkad at Fujairah

The Ladies' Wing of Prachara Chavakkad UAE, an expat community predominantly comprising families from central Kerala, organized a unique 'Maids Day Out' in Fujairah, drawing over 150 housemaids from different parts of Dubai and Sharjah, The Gulf News reported.

The idea was sparked by Kavita Vinod, one of the domestic workers, who recognized the limited outing experiences available to housemaids in the region. Kavita, having been fortunate to explore various places in the UAE with her employer, approached Prachara, expressing the need for a well-deserved break and an enjoyable outing for her fellow housemaids.

The Prachara Ladies' Wing, led by coordinators Shiny Shahul, Sandhya Sunil, and Jaseela Firous, took up the mission. With the support of Prachara Chavakkad Chairman Suseelan Vasu and the generous contribution of Indian businessman Saji Cheriyan and his wife Elsy Cheriyan, who offered their farmhouse and auditorium in Fujairah for free, the dream outing became a reality.

The day commenced with the inauguration by Suseelan Vasu, Saji Cheriyan, and Elsy Cheriyan. Three luxury buses transported the excited group from Dubai and Sharjah to Fujairah, where the participants were treated to an array of entertainment programs, games, and luxury gifts.

Kavita Vinod, the driving force behind the initiative, expressed her joy, stating, "I am still thrilled, recollecting the memories of the great experience we had that day." She has since been inundated with requests from dozens of other maids eager to participate in a similar entertainment opportunity.

Each participant received expensive gadgets, including mobile phones and watches, along with goody bags, making the 'Maids Day Out' an unforgettable and cherished experience for everyone involved.

The event not only provided a refreshing break for the housemaids but also showcased the community's commitment to recognizing and uplifting the contributions of domestic workers in the UAE.
